Tuesday, May 26, 2009 - Hatchery Tuesday, June 23, 2009 - Hatchery Tuesday, July 28, 2009 - Hatchery Tuesday, August 25, 2009 - Hatchery The Tailwater Chapter of Trout Unlimited meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Buford Trout Hatchery or Rick Tanner's Original Rotisserie Grill,, which ever is warmest. Unless otherwise noted, eatin' at 6:30pm, meetin' at 7:30pm. Directions to the Buford Trout Hatchery: From GA 400 take Hwy. 20 East towards Buford. Turn left into the Chattahoochee River Club subdivision main entrance (Club Drive). Turn Right at the 4th street (Trout Place). Go down the hill through the gate, bear right at the headquarters building and the meeting will be in the large maintenance building. From I-985 take the Hiway 20 exit towards Buford. Cross Buford Hiway, then Peachtree Ind. Go about six miles and look for River Club Dr. on your right (this is about a mile after you cross the river). Turn right, drive to Trout Place Rd. Take a right, go down the hill through the gates. The maintenance building is to the right. Since we like to have a speaker at the meetings we continued to look for one and Vic was able to round up a good one at the last minute for tonight's Tailwater TU meeting. Kyle Burrell (which most folks know as a "River Through Atlanta" guide) has agreed to come and speak at tonight's meeting. As this may make things a bit too full for our usual meeting time we may have to pospone some other scheduled things. The time is 6:30 and the place is the harchery. May 9th. May 9th. May 9th. In my email from yesterday I posted the wrong day for the Sam Rizzio Fly Fishing Clinic. I won't even mention it here so as not to reinforce even more. Again, if you can volunteer to be a casting coach for the Kid's Clinic on MAY 9TH at the hatchery, please get in touch with me. Evidently the Georgia Women Fly Fishers are only providing about 3 instructors this year so we need a few more from Tailwater. I've told UCCTU I'm hoping for 10 from Tailwater and have about 6 or 7 presently. Remember, what you may consider "flailing" will look like Lefty Kreh to a kid new to fly casting! Tailwater TU volunteered along with members of other TU chapters, NGTO, and The Meetup Group at Smith Creek. The volunteers helped DNR clean the trails, strengthen stream banks with bundled limbs, and create stream restrictors.
